Verizon gave my mom a Piece of @#@# older router for FIOS?

There are alot of different wireless devices in my mom's house (Apple TV, Macbooks, 2 windows laptops, phones, ipod touch, xbox 360, ps3) and my mom just upgraded to FIOS last month. Thing is though, the guys at FIOS gave my mom an older router (Actiontec Rev E) that only runs at 802.11bg speeds and that cocks out every hour or so (The internet just shuts off). This also happens if I shut off the wireless on the router and hook it up to a Linksys E2000 as the wireless router instead (Which worked fine on optimum online). How would I go about and get the router replaced with a newer model (such as the Rev F in my father's house which has N and works great!)?
