Side spikes??? hair gahhhh?

when i put in my side spikes i add hairspray and flat iron them and i go up and down with the flat iron as if i were teasing with a comb then i tease with a comb but mostly every time the spikes come out frizzy how can i make them non frizzy without making them look weird...
