Are used kias good cars?

im currently a teenager graduating high school who is on a budget, but my parents are helping me buy my first car and currently i have my heart set on buying a kia. i love the style of them, i love the prices there somewhat budget minded. but id like to know some things before buying them, first off, what kind of used kia should i buy? i know older kia cars werent as good until hyundai took over, so im not buying any kia thats older than 2000. should i get a forte, optima, rio? i also like the rio5 and forte5 door, i like the SUV kind of looking cars. but my thing is, are kias good on gas? are they reliable? ill take awesome care of my car, always do oil changes, etc. but i want to know would kia be a good first car to get since im buying it used?
