I have a problem With My 2003 Dogde Stratus 2.4 DOHC Sedan?

About 8 months ago I put a new starter in the car because it would just click, not start.... now its happening again... so I put another new starter.. and it worked for a week and now it doesn't start at all.... a mechanic who stopped to help me told me the starter relay was good ... so then he grounded a wire to one of the contacts on the starter relay and the car started..... he then left it connected and when I drove for about 4 hours .... it happened again... now even with that ground wire it won't start....I have one of the top of the line viper remote starts... I installed it about 3 years ago.... all the fuses are good.... can someone please explain where I'm going wrong...I also have an optimum red top battery its about 2 years old... should I buy a new battery?the car is not cranking just clicking.....
