MiFi Mobile Hotspot question?

I was looking at the MiFi for Virgin Mobile and Verizon wireless. I have a Droid from Verizon also that I think can get around 2 GB for $20 a month. The Virgin Mobile one seems good because it doesn't have any contracts and you can pay for what you need. I have optimum online at home so I don't need it at home. I have an iPod Touch and was thinking about the MiFi. The Verizon one seems reliable, but the whole contract thing just messes it up. I wanted to take my iPod and Laptop on Vacation in November and may need minimal WiFi for school work, to check emails from professors, etc. Should I get the Mobile Hotspot for the droid instead of getting a MiFi that I will barely use?
